Kisling Nestico & Redick has earned a reputation for being one of the toughest fighters on behalf of personal-injury clients in the state of Ohio. The law firm’s relentless advocacy and ever-expanding practice is partially the result of founding partner Rob Nestico’s own near-fatal brush with a negligence-caused automobile accident when he was just 15 years old.

Nestico vowed to dedicate his career to reforming the system and fighting on behalf of the marginalized and victimized, helping prevent others from going through the protracted battles of recovery. The firm that now bears his name has lived up to that vision, empowering clients across Ohio in the face of implacable insurance juggernauts whose sole mission often seems to be doing everything possible to stomp victims while they’re down.

Nestico brought with him a drive and passion for defending clients during their most vulnerable moments. This desire for standing up to the insurance companies on behalf of helpless victims has attracted like-minded attorneys and support staff who share his passion for advocacy.

However, even though Kisling, Nestico & Redick is doing a great service for its clients, helping them through what, for many, will be the most difficult period of their lives, the realities of constantly dealing with the aftermath of tragic incidents can take a toll.

Kisling, Nestico & Redick has found a way to do more than simply help people after tragic circumstances have permanently altered the course of their lives.

Through a number of initiatives, including its KNR Cares About Kids campaign, the law firm has been putting forth remarkable efforts to curb such primary causes of personal injuries as texting while driving and bicycle accidents in which the rider is not wearing a helmet.

`

Kisling, Nestico & Redick has also been steadfast in its charitable efforts to help local disadvantaged children throughout the communities in which it operates. Some of the worst and most widespread suffering in the United States is not the product of car accidents or workplace falls; it is the result of ongoing childhood hunger and deprivation. Kisling, Nestico & Redick believes strongly that no child in this country should go without food or adequate clothing. And that is why the team has been actively engaged in direct charity on behalf of kids, buying bags full of food for school children, taking disadvantaged youth on shopping sprees for clothing and school necessities, and directly raising money for a local food pantry upon which thousands of local children and their parents rely.

Unlike so many corporations, Kisling, Nestico & Redick doesn’t engage in long-distance philanthropy. Instead, the firm understands that real charity starts at home. It does the hard work of finding those who are truly in need within the local community and then directly assists those vulnerable individuals, ensuring that the goods actually end up in the hands of those in need.

Kisling, Nestico & Redick Takes Kids on Shopping Escapade

One aspect of poverty in the United States that doesn’t receive enough publicity is the number of children who do not have decent clothes.

It is true that both federal and state welfare programs have largely eliminated the most serious consequences of the grinding poverty throughout so much of the world, such as outright starvation, complete lack of shelter, and children having to resort to wearing torn and tattered clothing.

However, disadvantaged kids are often isolated and marginalized from their peers in subtle ways, like never being able to wear new clothes because their parents simply can’t afford them. While few U.S. children are forced to wear rags or go without shirts or shoes, buying a child who has never had anything but worn-out tennis shoes a brand new pair of Nikes can make a profound difference in the way that child feels about themselves and relates to their community.

Kisling, Nestico & Redick has done great work in recognizing this subtle but real issue. The firm recently took a dozen disadvantaged children on a shopping spree at a local Meijer store. The kids were involved in the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program, meaning that they were carefully selected for need. In the end, Kisling, Nestico & Redick spent more than $3,000 on the kids, buying many of them new shoes, shirts, shorts and dresses for the first time in their lives.

In typical KNR style, a representative of the law firm accompanied the children to the store and personally bought all of the items, ensuring that the entire amount went directly to those in need. With direct charitable interventions like these, Kisling, Nestico & Redick is rewriting the book on what good business citizenship is all about, setting a high bar and leading by example.

KNR Cares About Kids Seeks to Prevent Injuries

It may seem strange for a law firm that specializes in personal-injury cases to be among the top advocates for reducing the number of personal injuries that take place in its area of business. But this is exactly what Kisling, Nestico & Redick has been doing through many of the initiatives that make up its KNR Cares About Kids campaign.

Once you understand that Kisling, Nestico & Redick is a law firm that is almost passionate about fighting for injury victims, the fact that the team may be partially undermining its own business by preventing future injuries begins to make more sense.

And no better exampleexists of how KNR is directly contributing to lower rates of personal injuries than the law firm’s recent push to deliver 500 bike helmets to kids through local YMCA’s.

The YMCA of Greater Toledo announced that Kisling, Nestico & Redick had donated helmets, which were going to children who participated in its summer camp at the YMCA Child Development Center. Kisling, Nestico & Redick has stated that bicycle accidents where the rider is not wearing a helmet are a leading cause of traumatic brain injury in the United States. According to government data, if all children wore helmets while riding bicycles, the total number of serious head injuries would be reduced by approximately 45,000 cases each year in the U.S. alone.

By donating the helmets to at-risk youth, Kisling, Nestico & Redick hopes not only to reduce the likelihood of the recipients suffering head injuries but also to set an example of bicycle safety that other kids will be more likely to follow.

Kisling, Nestico & Redick Offers Yearly Scholarships

Another Kisling, Nestico & Redick initiative that stands directly athwart its own interests as a business is its aggressive push to encourage young people across Ohio from to stop driving distracted.

An increasing number of studies have shown that texting while driving is even more dangerous than driving while intoxicated. Numbers from the National Safety Council indicate that texting while driving results in more than 1.6 million accidents each year and causes nearly 400,000 annual injuries. These are staggering numbers. And the worst part is that every single one of these incidents is entirely preventable.

Through its KNR’s Stop Distracted Driving Scholarship, Kisling, Nestico & Redick is reducing the threat that distracted driving poses to young people throughout Ohio. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded to the high-school student that comes up with the best proposal to reduce distracted driving among their peer group.

For 2019, the award went to a young college-bound student named Elianna Norin. Norin drafted a public service announcement that involved a clever comparison between the effects of texting and driving and having a literal blindfold placed over the driver’s head.

The scene of her to-be-produced television ad shows a group of four teenagers in a car. The driver spontaneously opts to don a blindfold. The car begins veering wildly, coming dangerously close to oncoming traffic. As the passengers scream in horror, pleading with the driver to remove the blindfold, the camera pans in toward him, revealing that he was never physically wearing a blindfold but was instead texting all along.

Norin’s award money will go toward her tuition at Savannah College of Art and Design. The scholarship is planned to be an annual event.

Polar Bear Jump and Other Charitable Activities

Earlier in the year, Kisling, Nestico & Redick took part in the annual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump, an event that has raised large sums of money for local charities. This year, the KNR team featured more than 40 participants and raised $30,000. This was the sixth year that KNR has participated in the event, and the total amount that the firm has raised is more than $138,000.

As a participant in the event, Kisling, Nestico & Redick helped raise money for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. To put this into perspective, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank has published its per-meal cost at around $.25 putting a significant dent in hunger throughout the Akron region.

Through its participation in the Polar Bear Jump, KNR is once again demonstrating in action its philosophy of not only engaging in charitable activities at the local level but also doing so in a way that maximizes value for the recipients of those charitable resources.

One of the Largest Personal Injury Law Firms in Ohio

Right from the start, Kisling Nestico & Redick clients immediately note the KNR difference. With 38 lawyers – who collectively represent more than 450 years of legal experience – and 130 support staff, KNR has the resources, skills, and expertise to ensure that clients have a winning team on their side.

Each KNR client is assigned one lead attorney and two paralegals. This level of attention to each client’s case means that each case is researched meticulously and all possible litigative avenues are explored so that they can be thoroughly assessed and the best strategy chosen. While this may sound like an obvious and rational approach, the simple fact is that many personal-injury firms lack the resources to dedicate this level of attention to each case. And lack of adequate preparatory work in personal-injury cases almost always translates to lower settlement amounts.

But the real difference that Kisling, Nestico & Redick brings to the table lies in its experience and aggressiveness in pursuing its clients’ interests, even in cases where contingencies may require the firm to take on significant risk of its own.

Additionally, more than half of Kisling, Nestico & Redick's 38 personal-injury specialists have direct and extensive experience working within the insurance industry itself. And because insurance companies are the main counter parties against whom KNR litigates, arbitrates, and negotiates on behalf of its clients, this inside knowledge gives KNR strategic insights that no other law firm can match.

Kisling, Nestico & Redick also ranks among the largest personal-injury law firms in the state. Combined with its relentless pursuit of optimal client outcomes, this means that KNR brings credible threats to the table that other firms simply cannot muster. Because insurance companies know that KNR will litigate all the way through the courts – even if, in some cases, that means hundreds of thousands of dollars in potentially lost billable hours – those large insurance companies are less likely to call the firm’s bluff. And this is one reason that Kisling, Nestico & Redick has a long track record of winning favorable outcomes for its clients strictly through arbitration, without the need to drag cases through the courts.

Remember, if you have been injured in an accident of any kind, KNR can help. The unfortunate reality is that most people who are seriously injured in accidents will experience significant financial hardship as a direct result. KNR can help you make those tough times a little easier and less stressful by securing adequate compensation from the at-fault party.
