Amazon project moving forward in Akron (akron.com) — Amazon’s new same-day warehouse on Manchester Road in Kenmore is moving ahead after Akron City Council approved a conditional-use permit, transforming the former Akron Baptist Temple site. Council also passed new labor contracts, funded youth programs, backed veteran-focused initiatives, and approved tech and vehicle purchases, while debating proposed changes to its own leadership rules.

Akron Law recognized for value, business law program (akron.com) — Akron residents can take pride in the University of Akron School of Law being named a national “Best Value” law school and earning high marks for its business law program. The school’s strong faculty, low graduate debt, and nationally ranked specialties are drawing attention, which could make Akron more attractive to prospective law students and professionals considering studying or working here.

Canton mother and daughter indicted for murder in connection with man found dead in Akron (wkyc.com) — An Akron man’s death is at the center of a serious criminal case, as a Canton mother and daughter have been indicted on aggravated murder and related charges. Investigators say the victim was found dead in Akron in August, but believe the killing happened in Canton, with both city police departments and federal authorities involved in the arrests.

The case involved controlled buys in Barberton and Akron, large meth seizures, and a deadly mix of fentanyl and other drugs sold as cocaine. Cosmic Baseball coming to Akron for 2 nights this summer (news5cleveland.com) — Akron will host two nights of Cosmic Baseball at 7 17 Credit Union Park on June 26 and 27, bringing a glowing, black-light baseball spectacle to town. With the June 27 game already sold out, organizers added the June 26 date and are using a ticket lottery, promising an energetic, family-friendly show built around UV-reactive gear and stadium-wide special effects.
