Akron, OH – Several veterans and their families got an early dose of holiday spirit over the weekend. In honor of Veterans Day, Wonderly Lights of Northeast Ohio donated a free lighting display for the Summit Liberty House, a housing facility for homeless female veterans and their children.

The Wonderly Lights team decked the house out with multi-color lighting as well as wreaths and other holiday décor.

“Offering this gift to these women and their children just seemed like the perfect way we could say, ‘thank you for your service’ while also brightening up their home just in time for Christmas,” said Greg Wolff, Owner of Wonderly Lights of Northeast Ohio. “We’re really proud that we could lift their spirits a bit during a difficult time.”

The setting up and decorating took just over two hours. The Summit Liberty House is the first of its kind in Summit County, offering temporary housing to female veterans while they search for permanent residences. The facility was developed through a partnership between the City of Akron, Summit County and Family and Community Services, a Ravenna-based nonprofit that manages day-to-day operations.

“The smiles we saw on a couple of the kids’ faces were worth it,” Wolff added. “Nathan and Brandi (directors of the veterans housing initiative with FCS) couldn’t thank us enough, but we were just so happy to be able to bring some light into these families’ holidays.”
