AI is now answering Akron police's non-emergency calls (cleveland.com) — If you call Akron police’s non-emergency line, you’ll now first reach “Ava,” an AI assistant that gathers details and forwards them to officers or a live dispatcher when needed. Emergency 911 calls still go to people, but the new system aims to free up dispatchers and has already been tested locally through the Summit Emergency Communications Center.

Akron Community Foundation awards more than $4.3 million in quarterly grants (akron.com) — Akron Community Foundation has awarded more than $4.3 million this quarter, including its largest-ever round of health and human services grants for local residents.
