3 Car Collision In Avon Lake: 1 Dead

AVON LAKE, OH — A 41-year-old man died after a three-car accident on State Route 83 on Tuesday night.

At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Avon Lake police and firefighters were sent to the scene of a car accident on SR 83, a police spokesperson said. They found the after-effects of a three-car collision at the scene.

A 2013 Nissan Rogue, driven by the 41-year-old, side-swiped a Honda Accord and then drove headfirst into a Chevy Equinox, police said.

The 41-year-old suffered head injuries during the accident, police said. He was taken to St. John Medical Center in Westlake. He died while at the hospital, police said.

The other drivers did not need emergency medical treatment, police added.

Avon Lake police believe the 41-year-old was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

SR 83 was closed for approximately two hours while officers investigated.
