300 Students Take the Stage to Sing to Packed PAC House

The 12th Annual Elementary Choir Festival held Feb. 27 brought together more than 300 Avon Lake third and fourth-grade students in one evening for the 12^th Annual Elementary Choir Festival. 

The festival, held at Avon Lake High School’s Performing Arts Center, featured choirs from Eastview, Redwood and Westview elementary schools. 

Also joining the festival were the Merples, an elite group of singers from the high school chorale.

The event resulted in standing-room-only in the Performing Arts Center.

The choirs each sang three songs individually, with Westview—under the direction of Jan Meyers-- performing several songs including Over the Rainbow. Erieview, under the direction of Kathy Walker, included The Boatmen Dance in their performance and Redwood, under the direction of Cynthia Orr, including Ode to Peace. Eastview’s selections included Sing we Hallelujah. Eastview’s choir is under the direction of Michelle Swislocki.

The Merples are under the direction of Bill Zurkey.

The combined choirs, which filled the stage of the PAC sand Gloria Deo, Al Shlosha D’Varim and Yonder Come Day.
