Here are the top three stories in Avon-Avon Lake today:
- According to Fox 8 News, although House Bill 172 allows Ohio residents to legally buy and use fireworks. It also gives communities the opportunity to set local limitations. Avon Lake is one of the many Northeast Ohio communities whose city council has passed an ordinance to keep the prohibition of the discharge of fireworks in the city limits as a law. - There will be road work in the area for the week of June 27, so give yourself more driving time and plan an alternative route. Work will continue this week on Moore Road, which is closed to northbound traffic, south of Walker Road to Pin Oak Parkway. Southbound traffic is using the northbound lane. This project is set to continue through late fall. In addition, there is work being done on Route 83/Avon Belden Road which is closed at the culvert in front of Avon Lake High School for culvert replacement. According to an Avon City Facebook post ODOT has informed the city that the end date will be delayed due to supply chain issues. The city is asking that drivers seek an alternate route and avoid the area. (City of Avon Lake, OH via Facebook)
- Avon Lake is having a very special Fourth of July Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on Friday, July 1 at Weiss Park, 33401 Webber Road. The fun kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with Seeing Scarlet, 6:30 p.m. features Anne E. DeChant. At 7:30 p.m. there will be the Independence Day Celebration. At 8 p.m. the Dave Matthews Tribute Band will play. At 10 p.m. there will be fireworks. Hope to see you there! For more fireworks events in the area click on the WKYC.com site. (WKYC.com)
