80 MPH Wind, Hail Hitting Lorain County: Thunderstorm Warning
Flying debris could be hurled about by the wind gusts, the National Weather Service warned.
AVON LAKE, OH — Powerful, damaging winds and hail are hitting Lorain County on Wednesday evening.
Winds could hit 80 mph or higher during the storm, the National Weather Service said. Penny-sized hail is also possible this evening.
"Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely," the National Weather Service said.

A thunderstorm watch will remain in effect in Lorain County until at least 8 p.m.
As of 5:40 p.m., nearly 1,500 FirstEnergy customers in Avon Lake are without power, according to the company's outages website. The majority of impacted residents should have the power restored by 8:30 p.m.
