According to cleveland.com, "The Avon Tree Commission is hosting the city’s first annual Arbor Day celebration from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Every Child’s Playground (next to the Avon Aquatic Facility) 36265 Detroit Road. The free community event features an Opening Ceremony with Mayor Bryan Jensen, the dedication of the new city Christmas Tree and location, tree planting and pruning demonstrations, tree-themed book in Storybook Trail, scavenger hunt, tree identification, planting and care information, tree saplings giveaways (while supplies last), and live music from Curt Vigg (Neil Young Tribute). Pizza and beer will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting the Lion’s Leo Club. 3. Democrats mark your calendars. Avon Lake Democrats Club October meeting is Tuesday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. at The Old Firehouse Community Center, 100 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake. It’s down to the wire for the November 8 election! Campaign volunteer opportunities and yard signs are still available. All are welcome to attend.
