Here's a handy list of the five most recent properties to go up for sale in and around the Avon-Avon Lake area — including a home in the Avon Lake area with three bedrooms and two bathrooms for $205,000, and another in the Avon area with four bedrooms and three bathrooms for $698,474. 2. According to cleveland.com, "the Avon and Avon Lake communities came together in the spirit of friendly competition collecting food and monetary donations for Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services (CRS). The 12th annual CRS SOUPer Bowl was another successful initiative, with the winning community taking home the SOUPer Bowl trophy. For the fourth year in a row, Avon was presented with the SOUPer Bowl trophy at halftime of the Avon vs. Avon Lake varsity football game this past Friday night. Both communities together collected 7,023 pounds of food and $16,901 in monetary donations, for a total of 91,531 pounds of food for the CRS food pantry." (cleveland.com)
3. The Hooks for Hunger Committee has another great event coming up and they are looking for more teams to compete! The entry is free and there are great prizes to giveaway. Contact Tyler @ 440-787-5290 to compete. The event will take place on October 1, at Erie Outfitters, for the King of The Smokehouse Battle. Contestants will be judged blind (on up to four different categories: beef, pork, chicken and other) by a panel of judges as well as the public. Hope to see you there! • FIDO's Companion Rescue Inc.: "how does THIS happen? This little mess of a man showed up at a local pound - covered in fleas, long nails, matted as all heck - filthy ears and cataracts! Mama Fido couldn't leave him - so off he went to West Park! Once there, he vomited a few times, so they are keeping a close eye on him. At best, he'll need to be sedated and shaved down to free him of the matts. Cataracts are being looked at and testing done to rule out any additional problems.
