Here are the top three stories in Avon-Avon Lake today:

  1. Congratulations to the Avon Mighty Eagle Band, they took first place and Qualified for States at the OMEA contest at Perking High School on Saturday. According to a Support Avon Schools Facebook post, the band received, Best Overall Music -Best Music, Visual and Color Guard in Classes A & AA -Grand Champions, Superior Rating and State Bound!   2. Do you like to run? Why not do it for a good cause? The annual Run for Sewa is set to take place at 9 a.m. on September 24 at Weiss Field. Sewa International’s mission is "to serve humanity in distress, aid local communities, run developmental projects for the underserved, and assist people in transformational change through the power of innovation by mobilizing partners, donors and volunteers."   3. The final 2022 Hall of Fame Inductee spotlight is Rose Seighman who is receiving the Frankie Smitek Award. She began her career with Avon in 2001 as a secretary in two buildings before moving to the athletic secretary at Avon in 2006. Rose played an active role in the Avon athletic community she helped found the Souper Bowl Fundraiser at Avon/AvonLake football games. Congratulation Rose! You are forever an Eagle!
