Here are the top three stories in Avon-Avon Lake today:

  1. Maria's Field of Hope in Avon now has a sign announcing its location north of the Norton Place subdivision on Jaycox Road at Middleton Road. A cleveland.com article states, that according to property records from the Lorain County auditor, the Prayers From Maria Foundation purchased 42.63 acres of property on Jaycox Road (sale date Dec. 8, 2020) for a sale price of $298,410. Trees are already being cleared to make way for the field. A transitional field location is going to be used in the interim while the new site is prepped. Foundation officials are not saying anything about the exact location of the transitional field, although information online notes that the field covers 23 acres and 460,000 seeds were planted. Foundation officials have asked the public to follow on social media and the website for any announcements on that field as they become available. The sunflowers are expected to bloom at the end of September or early October. For additional field updates, go to prayersfrommaria.org or follow on Facebook." (cleveland.com)
