  1. Redwood Elementary School students have voted and made it official. The eaglets in the nest behind their school have been named, Courage and Spirit. According to an article on Cleveland.com, "the eagle parents, Stars and Stripes, welcomed three eggs into the nest at the school in March, but only two of three survived. (cleveland.com)
  2. On the hunt for a new home nearby, but tired of browsing through the same old real estate listings again and again? Here's a list of the five most recent properties to go up for sale in the Avon-Avon Lake area — such as one in the Avon Lake area with 3 beds and 3 baths for $439,000, and another in the Avon Lake area with 5 beds and 3.5 baths for $624,000.   3. Baseball and softball fans, it's almost time for the Summer Baseball and Softball Classic at Weiss Park. Join in the fun for the 2nd annual Baseball/Softball Summer Classic on Sunday June 19, in partnership with Avon Lake High School! Whether you play in the recreation league, CVBA or weekend travel ball, the coaches and players want to meet you in our weeklong event. New for this year is the addition of a K-2nd grade skills clinic! All programs will be coached or supervised by Avon Lake High School Varsity coaches, their staff and players. See you there!   • Avon/Avon Lake Knights of Columbus Council : A Blood Drive will be held on Tuesday, June 14 (Flag Day), at Ragan Hall, 1783 Moore Road, Avon, from 2 to 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus Francis McManus Assembly, the Father Ragan Council of Avon and the James L. Martin Council of Lorain are sponsoring the event. All donors will receive a 30foot-by-5-foot U.S. flag. The nonprofit company, Vitalant, will be running the event and donors can make an appointment online on the Vitalant.org website with the donor sponsor code 0079. Drop ins are welcome.
