1. The Avon Lake Bald Eagles Nest Facebook page administrators have reportedly made a display on the fence around the Eagle nest at Redwood Elementary School that portrays a life-size 7-foot wingspan of an eagle. Not only is the display educational, but it also makes for a great spot for photo opp for visitors to the nest. (Avon Lake City Schools via Facebook)
2. According to a Cleveland.com article, "Blessing Adeleke, 31, is charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud and bank fraud in a 17-count indictment. The charges were filed in 2020 but unsealed Friday after authorities arrested Adeleke in Ghana. The network stole information from several people in Northeast Ohio, including Painesville, Mayfield Heights, Lakewood, Sheffield Lake, Sylvania, North Royalton, Avon, Parma and Medina, court records say. The group stole $19,100 from a Pepper Pike resident, the indictment said. The marketplace took compromised online account information from websites like Amazon, Apple, Choice Hotels, Dell, eBay, eHarmony, Macy’s, Marriott, Match, PayPal, Target, Uber, UPS and Walmart, among others, according to the indictment. They sold the information to people who bought items online and sometimes returned them to brick-and-mortar stores for cash. Other times, group members used information to steal directly from bank accounts, court records say."(cleveland.com)
3. It's not too early to mark your calendars for the Avon Lake Athletic Boosters annual Avon Lake Beer Fest set for Aug. 27 at Miller Road Park. The family-friendly event features live musical performances all day and more than 60 different local and regional craft beers and wines from some of the area’s most popular breweries and wineries including Great Lakes Brewing Company, Thirsty Dog, Rhinegeist, Saucy Brew Works, Southern Tier, Fat Heads, Brew Kettle, Catawba Island, Destihl Brewery, DuClaw, Goldhorn, Millersburg, Rusty Rail, Sibling Revelry, Voodoo and Wild Ohio.
