- And the winners have been chosen! The Avon Garden Club recently presented its Beautification Awards. According to cleveland.com, "Ivana Rose took home an award for yard work she did at her condominium. She said people commented on the four very large planters placed at each corner of her yard. She also has a “welcoming front porch,” as she calls it, with wicker chairs, ferns and window boxes. Her flower preferences include geraniums and black-eyed Susans as well as other flowers that complement her red wicker porch chairs. Tracy Adams, a winner in the category of homes 20 years old or younger, noted that she had to rip out everything in her yard when she bought her home, because the landscaping “was no good.” She planted everything new. “My vice is flowers,” she said. “They bring joy to my heart, and I like to cut them and pass them along to others, like neighbors and teachers. That is how you share.” Adams’ whole yard, front and back, “is always done,” she said. She loves color and adds something more to her gardens every year." Congratulations winners! Keep beautifying our community with your flowers! (cleveland.com)
- Will it happen again? That's the question on local football fans list as Thanksgiving weekend approaches and the state semifinals are almost here. According to cleveland.com, "For four of the last five years, Avon and Archbishop Hoban have met in the state semifinals. That could happen again, or the OHSAA could revamp its semifinal matchups, should both make it to Thanksgiving weekend. Avon seeks a sixth straight state semifinal run, looking for its first berth in a state championship since 2011. Hoban has become Northeast Ohio’s most decorated program of the last decade, winning five state crowns since 2015." Keep an eye on the games fans and we will keep you updated! (cleveland.com)
