Former Lake Erie Crushers Manager Returns To Team

The Avon-based Frontier League team will welcome back an old friend for the 2022 season.

AVON, OH — The Lake Erie Crushers will bring back manager Cam Roth for the 2022 season.

Roth previously led the Avon-based Crushers from June 2016 through the end of the 2019 season. In his final year with the team, he led the Crushers to a Frontier League Eastern Division title and was named manager of the year.

“I am very excited to be returning to Lake Erie next season”, Roth said. “We had a lot of success there but didn’t achieve our goal of Frontier League title, so the job is far from finished.”

Roth left the Crushers when he was hired by the Detroit Tigers, but was released when the COVID-19 pandemic began and minor league baseball was shuttered temporarily. Ultimately, the Tigers minor-league team in Connecticut was eliminated.

He then managed the Gateway Grizzlies in 2021, with a record of 38-57.

Besides taking on the role of manager, Roth will also be the Crushers' director of baseball operations and field manager. His full coaching staff will be announced at a later date, the club said.
