Here are the top four stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:

  1. It's a great time of year to get out and enjoy some physical activities with your family and the upcoming Bike For A Cause is a great way to do just that. The Avon Lake Trike & Bike benefiting VeloSano to support pediatric cancer research at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital will be held on Saturday, September 24. Pre-ride activities begin at 12:30 the ride is from 1 to 2 p.m. then from 2 to 2:30 there are post-ride activities and snacks. The event is being held at the Avon Lake Fire Department, 32811 Walker Road. According to the information posted online regarding the event, Trike & Bike is a series of community-organized bike rides for children ages 3-12. To register or donate to the cause, go to trikeandbike.org/avonlake. (cleveland.com)
  2. Though the economy has yet to fully recover from the devastation caused by the pandemic, opportunities are still out there including in the Avon-Avon Lake area and across greater Ohio. However, there are still local job opportunities available, as businesses attempt to navigate the new normal. Looking for work? You may be in luck. Patch and ZipRecruiter have you covered, with our weekly list of new opportunities close to home. (Avon-Avon Lake Patch)
  3. Be aware of tree trimming happening in the area over the next several weeks. According to cleveland.com, "Street Department employees will be out trimming trees in the right-of-ways. Residents who wish to avoid having the Service Department trim your tree need to make sure the lowest branch does not come within nine feet of the ground where they overhang any public sidewalk, public place or public street. Any branches nearing the street should be 11 feet high from the road to give school buses, garbage trucks, plow trucks and other large service trucks enough clearance. If you have additional questions, contact the Avon Service Department at 440-937-5729. (cleveland.com)
  4. According to the Mourning Journal, "Lorian designer Jevon Terance has made his mark during New York Fashion week. Founded in 2007, the Jevon Terance Fashion Line grew quickly from a passionate hobby to a recognizable brand. Terance has participated in seven fashion shows across four seasons during New York Fashion Week." Congratulations Jevon! (Mourning Journal)
