AVON LAKE, OH — Powerful, damaging winds could again sweep through Lorain County.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the county. It goes into effect at 10 p.m. on Wednesday and will remain in effect until at least 6 p.m. on Thursday.

"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," the agency said in its advisory.

"Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects," the National Weather Service said.

The winds are likely a harbinger of future storms. Rain showers should develop on Thursday night, the National Weather Service predicted, and will contribute to a steady drop in temperatures.

After an unusually warm mid-December, with highs in the 50s and even 60s, temperatures will drop back into the 40s after the end-of-week winds and rain, forecasts said.
