Here are the top three stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:
- A new video scoreboard is in the future for the Lake Erie Crushers. According to cleveland.com, "When the Lake Erie Crushers take the field in 2023 they will not only play on new turf, but they will have a new video scoreboard at Mercy Health Stadium. Lorain County recently awarded the City of Avon $995,000 in American Rescue Plan Act grant funding to perform upgrades to the city-owned facility, according to a press release from the Crushers organization. In addition to funding the new video scoreboard for the stadium, funds have been allocated for a youth football field which will be operated by the French Creek YMCA.
“The Crushers are incredibly grateful to both the Lorain County Commissioners and the City of Avon for partnering on this project,” said Tom Kramig, Crushers co-owner in a press release. “We believe these upgrades will dramatically improve the fan experience at Mercy Health Stadium, while also drawing more visitors to Lorain County.” The city is also hoping to replace the electronic stadium marquee signage along Interstate 90 as part of the project and possibly replace some of the stadium lighting with LED light fixtures." (cleveland.com) - If you've been looking to add a fluffy ball of love and affection to your household, look no further than these Avon-Avon Lake area shelters for a pet up for adoption.
