Here are the top three stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:
- Football is like air in Avon, and now one of the best football programs in the state of Ohio has the locker rooms to match. The new space was unveiled Friday, complete with coaches' locker room, a meeting area to watch game reels, a players lounge, training room and more. The space is a special place for the players and the parents and donors worked hard to make the area something the team can be very proud of! (Support Avon Schools via Facebook)
- There will be a Public Meeting at 6 p.m. on July 19 at the Avon Lake High School Performing Arts Center (PAC), 175 Avon Belden Road to give more information about the Avon Lake Power Plant Redevelopment. According to cleveland.com, "the featured presenters will be from Avon Lake Environmental Redevelopment Group (ALERG), a subsidiary of Charah Solutions. ALERG will present information on the project, as well as answer any questions. After the presentation, the public is invited to proceed to the high school commons area where tables will be set up with representatives from the city and the Avon Lake Community Improvement Corporation, to give the public an opportunity to discuss the project in greater detail. The opening session in the PAC will be broadcast on the City of Avon Lake’s Facebook page." (cleveland.com)
- The Avon Lake Police Department got a new patrolman! Congratulations to Tyler Goodwin, who was recently sworn in as the newest full-time Avon Lake patrolman. According to cleveland.com, Goodwin is a 2007 Avon Lake High School graduate. (cleveland.com)
