- The Avon Lake Parks and Recreation Department will be Partying in the Park Sunday with a free concert! Stop by Miller Road Park Gazebo between 6 - 8 p.m. for music, fun and food. Avon Lake students, you might recognize the lead singer of this band Jump the Gun! Come out for some great tunes and great eats from off the GRIDdle and great cool drinks from 808 Shave Ice. - Be on the lookout for mayflies! According to a Cleveland 19 news article and the Cleveland Patch, "The National Weather Service picked up a giant cloud of mayflies on weather radar over Lake Erie on Wednesday. The bug swarm gathered between the Michigan coastline and Put-in-Bay. Mayflies emerge from Lake Erie mud in June and can live for up to 72 hours. Another mayfly swarm was spotted on radar over the lake near Mentor." (Cleveland 19 News)
