Philadelphia Man Indicted In Avon Lake Shooting

A grand jury has indicted Eynique Leron Patterson, 21, on multiple charges, including felony assault, aggravated burglary and kidnapping.

AVON LAKE, OH — A Lorain County grand jury has indicted a Philadelphia on charges stemming from a shooting in Avon Lake over the summer.

Eynique Patterson, 21, faces felony assault, aggravated burglary and kidnapping charges.

Patterson is currently in custody on unrelated charges in New Jersey. According to the Avon Lake Police Department, Patterson will be transported to Lorain County to answer these latest charges when his out of state charges are resolved.

On June 4, at 12:45 p.m., the Avon Lake Police Department learned that a man with gunshot wound to the stomach had been taken to the University Hospitals Avon Health Center. The shooting happened at 216 Moore Road at Coachman’s Trail, police said.

Police said the victim’s friend, and witness to the shooting, drove the victim to the hospital. Avon Lake Police Detectives responded to the Health Center and began investigating the incident.

The victim, Lee Martin, is a 33-year-old Oberlin resident, according to police.

Martin was transported by ambulance from the UH Avon Health Center to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. He was released from the hospital on June 13, police said.

Police said the victim’s friend initially reported that the shooting occurred at a beach/park setting, possibly in Avon Lake.

The incident remains under investigation by Avon Lake detectives.
