Theft, Sept. 15 — An Avon Lake father reported that his daughter's friend used his debit card — without his permission — to buy more than $1,000 in goods.
Animal complaint, Sept. 20 — At 7:10 p.m., a caller reported seeing a dog running loose on Moorewood Avenue. Officers were unable to corral the animal, but did make contact with its owner, who was cited for not keep the dog on their property.

Found property, Sept. 24 — A suspicious item was found near an Avon Lake school. The item has been inventoried and police are hoping someone comes forward with information.
Suspicious activity, Sept. 24 — An Avon Lake resident claims she paid a contractor to replace her floors. Instead of doing the work, the contractor moved out of state and stopped taking her phone calls. The contractor told police the woman hired someone else to do the work. Prosecutors are reviewing the case.
Theft, Sept. 24 — An Avon Lake man lost $2,000 in a phone scam.
Operating a vehicle impaired, Sept. 26 — An Avon Lake man crashed his pickup truck and was arrested for drunken driving, police said.
Animal complaint, Sept. 27 — Two dogs were found running loose on Belmar Boulevard.
Theft, Sept. 24 — Someone stole golf bags and clubs from the Sweetbriar Golf Course. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $3,500.
