Smashed Windows, Stolen Purses: Police Investigate Thefts From Cars In Avon Lake
Someone smashed the windows out of three vehicles parked outside of a Walker Road business recently. They made off with $400 cash.
AVON LAKE, OH — Purses, wallets and other items were stolen during three vehicle break-ins outside an Avon Lake business recently.
A trio of vehicles parked near a gym on Walker Road were broken into on Jan. 13. Someone smashed at least one window on all three vehicles, according to police records. The three damaged vehicles were a Ford Explorer, a Toyota Corolla, and a Chevrolet Traverse.
More than $400 in cash was stolen from one car, police said. Here were the other items snatched from vehicles:

- A gym bag
- An Ohio driver's license
- A personal checkbook
- A business account checkbook
- Two credit cards
- A purse
Investigators believe the suspect smashed the windows, grabbed the items and then ran out of the parking lot. Police have not yet identified or located the suspect, according to a department spokesperson.
Police did acquire surveillance footage of the incident from a nearby business, but it has not led to any new developments in the case.
