- It was announced at the most recent Avon Lake City Schools Board of Education meeting that Superintendent Scott will be retiring effective July 31. According to the Avon Lake City Schools Facebook post, "Mr. Scott has been with the district for the past 18 years." A statement from the Avon Lake City Schools BOE members said, "When Mr. Scott was hired by the BOE in February of 2005. State and national distinctions of excellence have become the norm and not the exception in Avon Lake due to Mr. Scott’s direction. It is unusual for a superintendent to stay in one district for very long, so we have been fortunate and thankful for his nearly two decades of exemplary leadership. In addition to providing unwavering focus during the recent and unprecedented times of a pandemic, Mr. Scott also led the school district during a period of rapidly evolving technological innovation and ensured the district advanced the delivery of education according to the new demands of multi-method education. As a leader, Mr. Scott stayed steady in his singular passion to do what is best for all children in Avon Lake, and he has been a humble and positive example for our schools and community. We will look to honor his accomplishments in June before his official retirement (July 31, 2023). " (Avon Lake City Schools via Facebook)
