Tell Us: What Makes a Good Grocery Store?

With Walmart planning to with a grocery section, and , grocery shopping options are growing for Avon residents.

Consumer Reports released its annual survey of favorite grocery store chains this week. Two stores in or near Avon -- and -- rated in the top five. Upstate New York-based Wegmans was the top store in the survey.

Tell us what matters to you when deciding where to buy your groceries. Does price trump everything else, or do selection and service come into play? What would you tell local retailers to do or change about their stores?

Price is a big factor for shoppers today. Consumer Reports said that 43 percent of those surveyed had switched stores to save money.

But price wasn't everything. While Walmart Supercenters rated well with customers for pricing, it earned low marks for service and finished in the bottom five.

Some of the other issues that drive customers away? A shortage of open checkout lanes, poor (or no) bagging, being out of advertised specials, and dirty or cluttered conditions.
