Real Alloy to Create 32 Jobs After Decision to Stay in Beachwood

The aluminum recycling company was considering moving out of state but incentives from the city will keep it in Beachwood.

BEACHWOOD, OH - The global aluminum recycling company Real Alloy has decided not to leave Beachwood after all.

The recycling company which has 18 facilities in North America and six in Europe, was looking to move out of its Beachwood office to a larger location after Aleris Corporation of Beachwood sold it to Real Industry, Inc. of Sherman Oaks, Calif. last year.

The company accepted Beachwood's offer of a $50,000 occupancy grant to move into a building at 3600 Park East Drive.

The company also accepted a job retention and creation grant lasting until 2020 to keep 45 jobs in Beachwood and create 32 new ones. The job grant will be in the amount of 50 percent of the income taxes collected by Beachwood during the agreed timeframe, Real Alloy President Terry Hogan told Patch.

Beachwood will get the location's full 2 percent income tax as part of the agreement.

The company had been looking at new office spaces in other parts of Ohio as well as out of state.

“Although local management had a strong preference to remain in northeastern Ohio, sites were considered both within and outside of Ohio," Hogan told Patch. "Available office space was considered in various locations, along with available incentive packages for those locations."

The decision to stay in Beachwood means jobs will stay within the city and the commutes of the 77 current employees that will be moving to the new office will not be disrupted.

“We need to recognize the City of Beachwood; The State of Ohio, Job Ohio program; our broker, Pat Reardon of Cushman & Wakefield [and] Cresco Real Estate; and our landlord to be ORG Portfolio Management for making everything come together and keeping us in Beachwood,” Hogan told Patch.
