Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:
- Tibetan-American Mayor Aftab Pureval of Cincinnatti met with Tibet's Dalai Lama in India at the beginning of December. Mayor Pureval was part of an American delegation that included mayors of other U.S. cities and Lonnie Ali, the widow of famed boxer Muhammad Ali. Pureval, a Tibetan-American, is the first person of Tibetan heritage in the United States to hold a prominent political position. (Subscription: The Cincinnati Herald)
- The City of Cincinnati will refund $3.3 million in security alarm fees. The refunds will go to residents and businesses who had to pay to register their security alarms or pay fees for false alarms. The decision is the result of a class action lawsuit which began in 2018. (Subscription: The Cincinnati Enquirer)
- Cincinnati officials shared public resources in preparation for the extreme winter weather conditions that are expected to hit the area this weekend. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing overnight with wind chills as low as -20 degrees fahrenheit.
