From Kevin Richards: Roots of American Music (ROAM), a Cleveland Heights-based educational organization, celebrates the Mardi Gras season with a fundraiser featuring – naturally – a form of American roots music. Ohio’s premiere Zydeco band, the seven-piece Mo Mojo, performs Saturday, March 12, at the event in the brand-new restaurant Rockefeller’s, in Cleveland Heights’ historic Rockefeller Building (3099 Mayfield Road). The party starts with dinner at 6:30 p.m. At 7:30, lower-cost-ticket holders come in, and the music goes till 11:00. For only $15, you’ll get the music, dancing, snacks and a drink ticket. For $50 you’ll get all of that, plus dinner by Rockefeller’s, the area’s newest restaurant – all in a beautiful, historic space. The event will also include a raffle; and everyone gets a Mardi Gras mask and beads. Mo Mojo consists of Jen Maurer (accordion), Bill Lestock (fiddle), Joe Golden (guitar), Darren Thompson (bass), Rod Lubline (drums), Davidione Pearl (rubboard and sax), and Leigh Ann Wise (percussion) – and often other guest musicians.
