Shaker and Cleveland Heights councils proceed on shared Horseshoe Park agreements (cleveland.com) — Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights councils have both approved emergency agreements that let the regional sewer district move ahead with removing the failing Horseshoe Lake dam and redesigning the shared parkland. The cities also agreed to split $7.2 million in new park amenities, with Cleveland Heights covering 35%, while residents in both communities continue to raise legal, historic preservation, and fiscal concerns.
   

2. 2025 restaurant openings in NE Ohio: A culinary guide to new places (cleveland.com) — Two new restaurant options opened right in Cleveland Heights this year: Arthur Treacher’s returned to its original Cedar Road site, and Edwins expanded into the former Nighttown space with everything from fine dining to a cigar bar. They’re part of a much larger wave of more than 80 new eateries across Northeast Ohio, giving Heights residents plenty of fresh destinations for meals and meetups nearby.

Rocky River vs. Cleveland Heights girls basketball: Pirates' big three fires on all cylinders to win seventh in a row (morningjournal.com) — Cleveland Heights girls basketball fell to Rocky River, 58–32, in a Dec. 12 matchup that highlighted the Tigers’ struggles with size and transition defense. Rocky River’s balanced scoring and rebounding powered a seven-game win streak, while Heights slipped to 5–5. The Tigers now look to rebound in their upcoming game against Massillon Jackson on Dec. 29.
   

4. Cleveland neurologist Dr. Howard Tucker, who touched countless lives as 'world's oldest practicing doctor,' dies at 103 (wkyc.com) — Cleveland Heights will host funeral services Friday for renowned neurologist Dr. Howard Tucker, the Guinness-recognized “world’s oldest practicing doctor,” who has died at 103. The longtime Cleveland physician, teacher, veteran, and late-life TikTok star inspired millions worldwide with his work, curiosity, and philosophy of living fully at every age.
   

5. East Cleveland police officer charged with dereliction of duty, fraud avoids prison (fox8.com) — A former East Cleveland dispatcher from Cleveland Heights was implicated in a 2024 crash case involving a firearm, while an East Cleveland officer avoided prison in a related obstruction case. The officer received suspended jail time, probation, a small fine, and must resign from the force. The dispatcher, already imprisoned for the crash, later pleaded to a reduced firearms charge and forfeited his weapon.
