The cities also agreed to split $7.2 million in new park amenities, with Cleveland Heights covering 35%, while residents in both communities continue to raise legal, historic preservation, and fiscal concerns.

2. 2025 restaurant openings in NE Ohio: A culinary guide to new places (cleveland.com) β Two new restaurant options opened right in Cleveland Heights this year: Arthur Treacherβs returned to its original Cedar Road site, and Edwins expanded into the former Nighttown space with everything from fine dining to a cigar bar. Theyβre part of a much larger wave of more than 80 new eateries across Northeast Ohio, giving Heights residents plenty of fresh destinations for meals and meetups nearby.

5. East Cleveland police officer charged with dereliction of duty, fraud avoids prison (fox8.com) β A former East Cleveland dispatcher from Cleveland Heights was implicated in a 2024 crash case involving a firearm, while an East Cleveland officer avoided prison in a related obstruction case. The officer received suspended jail time, probation, a small fine, and must resign from the force. The dispatcher, already imprisoned for the crash, later pleaded to a reduced firearms charge and forfeited his weapon.
