Cleveland Heights Opposes Ohio Uniform Tax Code

Cleveland Heights City Council approved a resolution to oppose an Ohio House bill that would enforce a uniform tax code across all municipalities.

The bill was pitched to make income tax codes simpler and universal across the state, but, if passed, city officials estimate that Cleveland Heights could lose hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

HB 601 "is detrimental to the fiancial stability of municipalities, will drastically reduce revenue to all municipalities in Ohio, and includes 'unfunded mandates' which will cripple the ability of municipalities to provide basic services to residents and resident businesses alike," the resolution reads.

Cleveland Heights joins several cities, including  in their official opposition to the bill.
