Cleveland Heights Patisserie Offering Sweet Treats On Preview Weekend

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS —A soon-to-open restaurant in Cleveland Heights will be opening for the first of two spring weekend previews in the coming days.

Sophie La Gourmande, a patisserie cafe located at 2275 Lee Rd., will be offering customers desserts and holiday specials from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. —or until the food runs out —on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

"Come say 'Bon Jour,' see our beautiful new space and pick up a sweet treat for your Easter basket," Sophie's management team wrote on social media.

According to Clevescene.com, the establishment is scheduled to have another preview from April 25-27 before officially opening its doors in early May.

The patisserie, according to Clevescene.com, is being opened by Bob Sferra, a longtime chef, caterer and culinary instructor, who took over the previously vacant space in 2019.

For some time, Sophie has been offering seasonal specialties, desserts, cookies, and chocolate and confections on its website.

Clevescene.com reports that the brick-and-mortar patisserie cafe will offer baked goods like croissants, pain au chocolate, macarons, palmiers and coffee cake in addition to breakfast Danishes and ham-and-cheese buns.

For lunch, Sophie will feature items like: cheese-topped focaccia, croque monsiers, seasonal quiches, pressed sandwiches —filled with tuna, egg and tapenade or roasted eggplant, tahini and fig jam — and salads.

All items served at the counter will be made fresh on-site, according to Sferra.

At the front of the store, a mini marketplace with feature prepackaged biscotti, chocolate bars, cookies, Duck-Rabbit Coffee, teas, olive oils and vinegars.
