Coventry PEACE Park Redesign: Hear Proposals For The Future

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The future of Coventry PEACE Park will be discussed during a public meeting on Saturday.

Preliminary design proposals for the space will be presented to the community at a 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. session at the Coventry Village library. Attendees can ask questions about the direction of the park, provide their input on its future and enjoy light refreshments.

Landscape architects Andrew Sargeant and Jim McKnight will present their proposals. The duo, who were contracted for $9,000 each, were asked to prepare sketches and develop plans for the park, including cost estimates.

The duo took part in the Coventry PEACE Park Design Jam in late June, which gave residents an initial say in how the park can be changed for the better. During that event, residents were asked to participate in five stations:

1. Predict Your Park: Take an interactive survey
2. Share a Story: Share your park memories
3. Mark the Map: Show us your favorite places
4. Find Your Favorites: Rate our ideas
5. Picture a Park: Kids can create their dream park

A third event related to the park's redesign will take place Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. Both landscape architects will present their final plans for the park, including costs. Plans could include an accessible playground, a walking storybook loop, an amphitheater, and outdoor seating areas.

The Fund for the Future of Heights Libraries will handle fundraising for the project, library officials said.
