Dobama Theatre Presents HOW TO BE A RESPECTABLE JUNKIE World Premier

From Dobama Theatre: Dobama Theatre proudly presents the World Premiere of HOW TO BE A RESPECTABLE JUNKIE, running June 15-July 2, directed by Nathan Motta and starring Christopher Bohan*. * Member of Actors’ Equity Association

A heroin addict in his thirties decides he’s going to take his life so he no longer has to destroy the lives of those around him. But before doing so, he decides to make a video for heroin users everywhere instructing them on how to be respectable junkies, because even he has grown weary of their behavior. HOW TO BE A RESPECTABLE JUNKIE takes an in-depth look into the troubled soul of a man caught in heroin’s deadly grip. Based on real-life events, JUNKIE is at once eye-opening, heartbreaking, full of humor, and ultimately hopeful.

From Artistic Director Nathan Motta:

"After hours and hours of interviews, Greg has written a moving, heartbreaking, funny, and truthful play that tells both the realities of addiction and the hope of recovery. Given the opioid epidemic in this country, particularly in our region, this piece is timely and important. We're pulling together support from corporations, public health organizations, and the broader community. We will be planning extensive programming around this production.

While part of the reason is to help fund this additional full production and the associated programming at the end of our fiscal year, there is a larger purpose.
