1. ‘Being seen': Artist's Dayton exhibit is ‘about the makeup of what we are' (daytondailynews.com) — A Dayton-based painter is launching a new exhibit, “Being Seen,” at the Dayton Metro Library’s Main Branch starting Jan. 2, 2026, with an artist talk on Jan. 11. Brian Mathus, who works out of Liberty Tower downtown, will showcase pieces spanning his pandemic-era work to recent Fauvist-inspired paintings, highlighting Dayton’s creative energy and growing arts community.
   

2. Longtime leader of local non-profit organization stepping down (whio.com) — The longtime CEO of Dayton-based Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley, Laura Roesch, will step down Feb. 27 after 16 years leading major food, housing, and support programs across the region. She oversaw a $10 million campaign, a major pantry expansion on West Riverview Avenue, and key tornado recovery work, and will move to lead The Glen at St. Joseph while a search begins for her successor.
   

3. Judge Epley appointed Chair of the Commission on Professionalism (mycountylink.com) — A Dayton-based judge is taking on a key statewide leadership role: Second District Court of Appeals Judge Chris Epley, from Dayton and a University of Dayton law graduate, has been named Chair of the Ohio Commission on Professionalism starting January 1. His one-year term will guide mentoring, education, and outreach programs that shape how attorneys practice across Ohio.
   

4. Woman calls 911 after man claimed to be shot in Dayton neighborhood (whio.com) — Early Sunday morning, a woman called 911 after seeing a man on the sidewalk near West Siebenthaler Avenue and North Main Street in Dayton, yelling that he’d been shot. Dispatchers later said his injuries were not from a gunshot, but the caller’s concern about people not getting help on “this side of town” highlights ongoing worries about safety and response in that neighborhood.
   

5. Forget the F-22, F-35 or F-47 NGAD: X-32 Stealth Fighter Has a Message for the Air Force (19fortyfive.com) — Dayton readers may appreciate that Boeing’s X-32A test jet now rests in restoration at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, a reminder of a major fighter competition held decades ago.
