Lake Catholic Names New Principal

Robert Kumazec will step in for outgoing Rick Koenig on July 1

found its new principal within its walls, religious studies teacher Robert Kumazec.

Lake Catholic President Sal Miroglotta sent an email announcing the news to parents Monday.

"I'm delighted he came forward and applied," Miroglotta said in an interview. "He's a wonderful teacher and connects with the students. He's going to be a marvelous leader."

Kumazec graduated from St. Ignatius High School and received his bachelor's degree from John Carroll University.

Miroglotta said one of things he likes most about Kumazec is his "strong personal faith commitment."

"He understands what Catholic schools are supposed to be about," Miroglotta said.

Kumazec will step in for the outgoing principal, Rick Koenig, on July 1. .

Miroglotta said the change of leadership is not going to lead to a change in the school's mode of operations.

Instead, he said, Lake Catholic's emphasis is on gradually growing its programs over time.

"I wouldn't expect vast or immediate changes," he said.
