Lake Humane's Black Cat Ball Is Coming Up

Animal lovers can support the shelter's biggest annual fundraiser by being a sponsor, donating an auction prize or simply buying a ticket and joining in on the fun

Lake Humane Society's biggest fundraiser of the year, the Black Cat Ball, will be Oct. 27 at LaMalfa Centre.

The event features a huge silent auction, costume contest, games, music, dancing and more. (While costumes are not required, you are officially no fun if you don't wear one.)

And there are a lot of ways animal lovers can show their support.

First and foremost, tickets are still available for the big night. Tickets cost $70 per person and include the dinner buffet, an open bar and a chance to win the grand prize of $1,500.

All of the proceeds benefit the animals at Lake Humane Society's shelter.

There's still time to sign up as a sponsor for the ball, as well.

Sponsorship levels range from $250 to $3,000. If you're interested, call 440-951-6122 or email mosborne@lakehumane.org for more information.

Finally, the Lake Humane Society is still accepting donations for its raffle.

The silent auction brings in tens of thousands of dollars each year to benefit the animals in the shelter's care. Items that are donated for this auction range anywhere from $25 to $2,000.

Some examples of donations are: vacations and getaways, gift packages for salons and golf courses, jewelry sets, tickets to concerts and sporting events and gift certificates of all sorts.

Classic Auto has already donated a 2-year lease on a 2012 Mazda 6.

For more information on making a donation, visit the Lake Humane Society web site.

Since 1937, the Lake Humane Society has operated as a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals in the local and surrounding  areas.

The society provides a haven for homeless, abandoned and injured animals. Through donations, it is able to offer adoptions, a spray and neutering program, cruelty investigations and pet therapy.

Tickets for the Black Cat Ball are on sale at the shelter, 7564 Tyler Boulevard in Mentor. For questions, call 440-951-6122.
