Mentor Chamber Announces Launch of VetsNet Program

"Mentor VetsNet provides tangible recognition and gratitude for the service given by the men and women of our armed forces past and present – it is a way to honor and support those who have given their all to guarantee our freedom," said Kevin Malecek, the chamber's president and CEO.

Malecek added that area businesses offered overwhelming support and enthusiasm for the new initiative.

Businesses that are part of the Mentor VetsNet will offer a 10-percent or comparable discount for the goods and services they offer to veterans that are members of the VFW, American Legion, AmVets and other veterans organizations, as well as any current active or reserve service members.

Acceptable identification for the program includes membership cards to one of the veterans organizations, active duty or reserve identification cards, and specific Mentor VetsNet ID cards supplied to them by the Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce at the chamber's office.

Participating businesses will display a decal on their door.

The idea for the program originated from discussions with , and representatives from area veterans’ organizations.

"We are fortunate to have such a vibrant and invested business community in the Mentor area and we are thrilled to have our businesses give back in such a way to recognize the service of our American heroes," Filipiak said.
