Mentor Police K-9 Visits Kids for Library Story Time
Officer Mackey and K-9 Bo met with about 40 kids at the library for a special story time event.
About 40 children at Mentor Public Library listened to stories from two special visitors—Mentor Police officer Bill Mackey and his K-9 partner, Bo.
Fittingly, MPL Children Services Manager Kim Sidorick read the kids “Officer Buckle and Gloria,” the story of an officer and his K-9, who did tricks like stand on his head. Bo didn't do that, but he barked on command and was petted by all members of his young audience.
“This program is a great way to introduce kids to their local police department,” Sidorick said, according to MPL. “A police officer – or any new adult, for that matter – can be intimidating to a child. But everyone is a lot more approachable when they have a dog with them."
