History buffs, literature lovers, and anyone who enjoys a good ghost story will love the Ghosts of the Civil War program that we’re hosting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at our Main Branch.

Sara Showman (representing the South) and Mark Dawidziak (representing the North) will tell ghost stories from South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Ohio – including a few involving President Abraham Lincoln. Sara and Mark will also share appropriate literary selections from Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, and Ohio native Ambrose Bierce.

If you’re interested in Civil War history, we host a monthly series on the Civil War with our friends and neighbors, the James A. Garfield National Historic Site. The series continues at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Rangers Allison Powell and Rebecca Hayward will share tips for researching your family members who served in the Civil War. We will be meeting in person at our Main Branch. Registration is required, and you can sign up on our website.
