Drunken Driver Hit Police Cruiser In Mentor: Police
The cruiser slid into another police vehicle while the driver's SUV hit the median wall.
MENTOR, OH — A driver hit a police cruiser on State Route 2 in Mentor on Monday morning.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., Mentor police were on State Route 2 investigating a one-car accident. Four cruisers were on the route, blocking the two right lanes.
A 35-year-old woman from Painesville was driving in the center lane, going west, when she crashed her 2014 Kia Sorento into a police cruiser's side, a Mentor official said. The cruiser was pushed into another police cruiser.

The woman then drove into the center median wall.

Both police cruisers were empty when they were hit, according to city officials. No officers were hurt in the crash.
The woman suffered some "minor" injuries, a city official said, but now faces charges for operating a vehicle impaired and failure to control her car.
Part of State Route 2 was closed while officers investigated both crashes. The highway fully reopened at 2:30 a.m.
