Shooting At Mentor Condos: Suspect, Charges Announced

Police announced that a 38-year-old man is now facing charges of attempted murder and felonious assault.

MENTOR, OH — Mentor police identified the two people shot in the Independence Condos last week.

On Tuesday, investigators revealed that Taylor George, 23, and James Brooks, 27, were both hurt during the shooting. Their conditions are unknown.

Police also announced that Darold L. Hoyle, 38, from Cleveland Heights, is now accused of shooting George and Brooks. He faces charges of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault and one count of improperly discharging a firearm into a home.

Hoyle was arraigned Monday in Mentor Municipal Court. He is currently being held at Lake County Jail.

On Nov. 5, gunshots were heard near Puritan Drive at 5:30 a.m., a city official previously told Patch. When police arrived they found George and Brooks in a condo. They had both been shot in their "lower extremities," police said at the time.

Hoyle was taken into custody that same day by police and the U.S. Marshals, a city official said.
