Sterling Morton Will Host Art Show This Week

Some of the items on display will be auctioned to raise money for the Mentor Schools Foundation

will host a special art show from 5:30 to 6 p.m. this Wednesday and Thursday.

Art from all of the school's students will be displayed. Some of the pieces will later be auctioned to raise money for the Mentor Schools Foundation.

Those pieces include a guitar that was painted by the students and a special fireplace that was donated by a parent. Students glazed tiles and laid them on the fire place's mantle, said Sterling Morton art teacher Jacqui Spetrino.

People can bid on this artwork and more created by Mentor students during the annual art auction April 20 at . This year's theme is Harmony Through Art.

Proceeds from the auction will go to the Mentor Schools Foundation. The foundation, in turn, supports the school district via grants that pay for classroom equipment, programs and field trips that the district could not afford otherwise.

The Mentor Schools Foundation started in 1985 and, since its inception, has given more than $120,000 in grants to the school.

Tickets to attend the auction cost $20, which also pays for drinks and appetizers.
