Why Go: It is said that one in every twenty homes in America has a work of Thomas Kinkade hanging on its walls.

Sadly, Kinkade passed away earlier this month at the age of 54.

In addition to being a painter of light, he was also a frequent guest of Gallery One.

And, in celebration of his contributions to fine art, Gallery One has launched a special Thomas Kinkade tribute -- complete with art, memorabilia and films. The exhibition will continue through September 1.

Why Go: Join the American Cancer Society for a fun walk with your best canine friend(s) to support Relay For Life.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with opening ceremonies to follow at 10 a.m. The first 100 dogs to register get a treat bag and a bandana.

Activities will include a doggie costume contest, cook out, adoptable dogs and much more.

Why Go: Partner universities will be onsite and available to answer questions regarding the different .

The Holden University Center of Lakeland Community College gives people access to complete a bachelor’s or graduate degree from a variety of leading colleges and universities.

University partners teach classes in the new state-of-the-art Holden University Center building. Program graduates receive their degrees from the institution of their degree program.
