Oxford-Miami University is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Oxford-Miami University has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • Miami University, located in Oxford, was founded in 1809 and is one of the oldest universities in America. The university is known for its picturesque campus, which features stunning red brick buildings and a quad that's perfect for picnics or studying outdoors.
  • Uptown Oxford, the city's downtown area, is home to a vibrant arts scene. Visitors can check out the Oxford Community Arts Center, which features rotating exhibits from local artists, or catch a performance at the Oxford Area Community Theater.
  • Did you know that the Oxford Area Trails project in Oxford was a community-driven initiative that took over 30 years to realize? Starting with a group of passionate residents, the vision for a network of trails was included in the city's comprehensive plan in 2008 and finally came to life in 2017. Today, efforts continue to expand the trail system and make Oxford an even better town for everyone to enjoy.
  • The Uptown Oxford Farmers Market is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. Held on Saturdays year round, the market features fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts and live music.
  • Miami University's Goggin Ice Center is a world-class ice skating facility that's open to the public. Visitors can skate on two NHL-sized rinks, take skating lessons or watch the university's hockey team in action.
