📰 News we're reading

• Oxford Community Park to receive robot for field marking (oxfreepress.com) — Oxford Community Park will soon get a field-marking robot that’s expected to save the city thousands of dollars and hundreds of staff hours each year, freeing workers for other park duties. At the same time, the city is replacing the park’s 25-year-old playground for ages 2–5, with construction this winter and a likely reopening as early as February 2026.

• Miami students recommend updates to Oxford's approved tree list (oxfreepress.com) — Oxford is considering major updates to its official street tree list, based on research and recommendations from Miami University sustainability students working under the city’s Climate Action Plan. Their proposal would add climate-resilient, mostly native species and remove trees that struggle in Oxford’s conditions, while aiming to boost the urban tree canopy from 35% to 50%. The Environmental Commission will review the changes over the next few months before sending them to City Council.
