The Shaker League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization. Members attend City, School and Library meetings and write observer reports. Here are the highlights of the Shaker Heights City Council meeting on October 23, 2021.

  • The 2021 projection reveals an expected surplus of 7.2% better over the 2021 budget.
  • Inflation may affect City costs in 2022 budget.
  • Focus to remain on healthy reserves, while keeping long-term plans in mind.
  • Council approved wildlife management for the 2021-2022 season.
  • Council approved applying for a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a $20,000 Urban Canopy Restoration grant requiring a $20,000City match.
  • Council approved a contract with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health to provide of public health services to Shaker Heights for 2022 and 2023.
