• Doctors fired by University Hospitals file lawsuit against healthcare system (fox8.com) — A pediatrician who previously treated families at a Suburban Pediatrics office in Shaker Heights is suing University Hospitals after being fired this summer, alleging retaliation for raising patient safety concerns. Along with another doctor, she claims the system used an app policy as a pretext and is seeking reinstatement and damages for reputational and economic harm.
   

• Terry Rozier NBA betting scandal: Heat guard paying for co-defendant's attorney (cleveland.com) — A former Shaker Heights High School basketball standout, now NBA guard Terry Rozier, is accused in a federal betting case where prosecutors say he’s paying his co-defendant friend’s legal fees. Prosecutors want a hearing over a possible conflict of interest, alleging Rozier’s defense strategy may shift blame onto his longtime friend, who also has Shaker Heights athletic ties.
   

• Teachers Are Using Software To See If Students Used AI. What Happens When It's Wrong? (kqed.org) — Shaker Heights High School teachers are using AI-detection software like GPTZero to check student writing, raising concerns among students and educators about accuracy and fairness, especially for non-native English speakers. The district is spending thousands on these tools while some nearby Cleveland educators and Shaker Heights students question whether the money and trust placed in this technology are justified.
