Nearly 1,300 People In Shaker Heights Without Power
After severe storms swept through the region, thousands of Shaker Heights residents woke up unable to turn on the lights.
SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Nearly 1,300 FirstEnergy customers in Shaker Heights were without power at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning.
Severe thunderstorms blew through Northeast Ohio on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Wind gusts hit 80 mph, bringing down tree branches and hurling debris through the sky. Additional storms formed Thursday morning in parts of northern Ohio.
The majority of outages in Shaker Heights should be remedied by 10 p.m. on Friday, FirstEnergy estimated. More than 55,000 FirstEnergy customers in northern Ohio were without power on Thursday morning, meaning repair crews are likely stretched thin.

There's a 30-percent chance of thunderstorms developing again on Thursday and continuing into Friday, the National Weather Service warned. However, temperatures are also likely to climb into the 90s on Thursday. Combined with the humid, muggy conditions, it will feel like 100 degrees (or higher) outdoors.

" There is potential for storms to become strong to severe Friday, mainly during the afternoon hours. Damaging winds will be the primary weather hazard. Heavy rainfall with these thunderstorms may also lead to localized flooding," the National Weather Service said.
