Shaker Heights Middle School Shines At Model UN Conference

More than 60 Shaker Heights Middle School students excelled at the Ohio Leadership Institute's Junior Ohio Model UN conference earlier this month.

They represented 12 countries and five of Shaker's 12 teams wrote resolutions and gave author's speeches that advanced out of committee to the General Assembly.

During the conference, 43 resolutions were selected for debate in the General Assembly of the 154 submitted and Shaker teams won two special awards given by the judges. Furthermore, four Shaker Heights students won individual awards.

Additionally, the club raised $75 for the Ohio Leadership Institute's I-OPEN project to purchase school supplies for students in Jos, Nigeria
